Timing
Tarusa is open seasonally from May to September. Restaurants and most activities are closed outside the summer season. Come in the summer and on weekends, as many establishments are closed on weekdays.
Transport
From Moscow to Tarus: 2 hours by car or train "Lastochka" to Serpukhov (700 rubles), then bus or taxi. From St. Petersburg - about 8 hours in total with a transfer to Moscow.
Food
Try Tsvetaeva pie (with apples, currant jam and sour cream) at the café "Somewhere Here". Also visit the local bakery with pasties, pies and quality bread.
Where to stay
Boutique Hotel "Khoromy" is located in a historic merchant's house of 1887. Each issue is unique and dedicated to famous people (Tsvetaeva, Paustovsky, Akhmadulina). Breakfast is included in the room rate.
Tip
On the central square of Tarusa there is the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul of the XVI century. Be sure to go inside. Nearby is the Tarusa Art Gallery with paintings by Aivazovsky and Kustodiev.

Visit the Taruseleta ceramics workshop (250 m from the center). It is one of the largest handicraft workshops in the city, producing 2000 pieces per month. The address will be prompted in souvenir shops.

Visit the Paustovsky House-Museum. Take tickets in advance. Audio tours are held here. With the arrival of Paustovsky in Tarusa, water supply and electricity were installed.
